Honey-Do is operated by Half-Baked Co Inc., a corporation registered in Ontario, Canada. Contact: hello@usehoneydo.app. Half-Baked Co Inc. is the data controller for personal information processed through the Service.

Your data is yours. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the controls you have over your information when you use honey-do (the "Service"). If you have questions, email us at hello@usehoneydo.app.

1. Information we collect

Account info — your email, optional display name, and avatar URL.
Couple data — the partner you pair with via join code, and the household name.
Tasks & content — task titles, prompts, consequences, due dates, completion status, and dog-house history.
Subscription data — plan tier and billing status (handled by our payment processor; we never see your full card number).
Technical logs — IP address, browser type, and timestamps for security, abuse prevention, and debugging.

2. How we use your information

To operate the Service — sync tasks between you and your partner, send notifications, run the dog-house scoreboard.
To process payments (via our payment processor) if you upgrade to a paid plan.
To send transactional emails (password resets, important account notices).
To investigate abuse and keep the Service secure.
To improve the product through anonymized, aggregated usage statistics.

We never sell your data. We do not use the content of your tasks, prompts, or consequences to train AI models or to serve ads.

3. Legal basis for processing (for EU/UK users)

We process personal data on these lawful bases under the GDPR:

Contract — to create your account, pair you with a partner, and deliver the Service you signed up for.
Consent — for optional features you switch on, such as the 18+ presets and any non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and improve the product using aggregated, anonymized usage data.
Legal obligation — to meet tax, accounting, and other legal requirements.

4. Who can see your data

Your paired partner sees all tasks, prompts, consequences, and dog-house entries in your shared household.
Our service providers process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality: Lovable Cloud (hosting, database, authentication), our payment processor, and our email delivery provider.
Law enforcement only when legally compelled (e.g., subpoena).
The public — never.

5. Cookies & tracking

We use only essential cookies needed to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (like your font theme). We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. You can review and manage all stored data at any time on our Cookie Settings page.

6. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your tasks, prompts, consequences, and dog-house history within 30 days. If you pay for your couple's Premium subscription, deleting your account also cancels it and we email your partner to let them know when Premium ends — their own data is not deleted. Some records (billing, abuse reports) may be retained longer where legally required.

7. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can:

Access and download a copy of your data
Data portability — receive your data in a portable format
Correct inaccurate information from your account settings
Delete your account and all associated data
Object to or restrict certain processing
Withdraw consent for optional features (like the 18+ presets) at any time

EU/UK users have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. California users have additional rights under CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@usehoneydo.app.

8. Children's privacy

honey-do is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own (including the United States and the European Union) where our infrastructure providers operate. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for these transfers.

10. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption at rest, row-level security in our database, and secure authentication. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data and will notify you promptly of any breach affecting your account.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you in-app or by email at least 7 days before they take effect.
